A powerful earthquake has struck in the Sea of Okhotsk, between the east Russian coast and northern Japan, but no tsunami warning has been issued.

Live seismic servers -

emsc also has the magnitude as 7.7

The problem is that large earthquakes trigger other earthquakes and volcanic eruptions -

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/200...084653.htm

Large Earthquakes Trigger A Surge In Volcanic Eruptions

New evidence showing that very large earthquakes can trigger an increase in activity at nearby volcanoes has been uncovered by Oxford University scientists.

http://www.livescience.com/9572-big-eart...ggers.html

How One Big Earthquake Triggers Another

Every so often, one large earthquake can trigger another. These "earthquake doublets" might happen because the first quake shifts stresses around in the Earth’s crust, triggering the second temblor, scientists say.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnew...years.html

Japanese scientists have announced there is a 70 percent probability of Tokyo experiencing a magnitude-7 earthquake in the next four years, a significant elevation of the threat to a city that is home to 8.9 million people.

Then there is the problem of the nuclear plant at Fukushima -

http://www.rt.com/news/fukushima-plant-y...ilize-505/

'Fukushima reactors not stable' – plant ex-boss

The reactors at crippled Fukushima nuclear power plant are not stable, says its former head. He urged for international expertise to be called in to make the site of one of world’s worst nuclear disasters safe.

3 days? Does it take that long? From Chile to Hawaii only took a few hours and this quake was last night.
