A Remington 870 with 2 quick change barrels - a full choke shot barrel and a slug barrel.
Also a magazine tube extender that will let it hold 12 rounds !
Six to seven hundred for everything !

I have a budget of about $1K and need a good 12ga. What is the best bang for my buck shot? I'm leaning toward a Mossberg SPX500. My buddy has one and it's pretty nice. Opinions please. And yes I have a big soft spot for the tactical stuff.

SDM

I made my own Mossberg tactical for under $400. I bought the extras on Ebay and cut the end of the barrel off with a pipe cutter. Still legal of course... just a lot easier to carry. Call me Mad Skippy....

All "beasts" are carbon based.

Carbon has 6 protons, 6 neutrons & 6 electrons

All beasts need air to survive.

Nitrogen: 7 protons, 7 neutrons & 7 electrons

Oxygen: 8 protons, 8 neutrons & 8 electrons

Water: 10 protons, 10 neutrons & 10 electrons

The Dominion is a f*cking pump. Get a Mossberg 930. If you think you can rack that pump like Annie Oakley when the Zombiies are breaking down your door, more power to you. I think I'd want an auto loader. The mag is cool.
Yeah I'm thinking autoloader, semi auto 12ga chaos would be fun. But pumps are cool too man, I like them a lot. Annie Oakley does not have "shit" on me. I'm a really good shot. Like REALLY good lol.

1k buys a whole lotta shotgun. Mossberg makes a fine weapon. In the right markets,1 k will get you 2 or 3 mossberg tac defenders,or 15 new england arms single shots, which cannot jam.
Depends on the purpose...

I like my Winchester 1300 12 gauge Defender.
Holds 5 in the magazine, one in the chamber.
Has the shorter barrel (18.5 inch) for maneuverability in tight spaces, which is important for home defense.
Is very reliable for target and skeet shooting. Doesn't always perform as well as the longer barrels at long range targets, but that's what rifles are for. chuckle

--and you can always purchase a longer barrel or a choke tube if you want to hunt duck, goose or pheasant from 100yds away.

I've used the Mossberg which was fine, Remington also good, and the Browning which is very good - but expensive.

For the money I am satisfied with the Winchester, it was about $300 back in @2004.

The new model of the Winchester is called the Super X Pump Defender.

Good luck SDM, I'm sure you'll find something you like if you investigate and check out whats available.

Claiming you cut it down yourself is an invite to an "inspection".
