California used to be at the top of the list for education

back in the 70's

40 years later they are at the bottom

my mother was the head of the cta in the 50s. And yes, she lived right there on the reservation at the time. She taught 2nd grade and all the indian kids loved her. She was super fair, and she wouldn't let anyone get away with any bullshit. They all got the 3Rs, good and heavy. Evewryday. Sometimes she'd be up to 3 a.m., grading papers. California had the smartest kids in the world. Then the 60s, and the left-wing idiot professors took over, and the bottom dropped out.
Now the kids run the schools, they all want to be treated like little gods.
PC gets worse every year. California is probably lucky to be that HIGH on the list.

no, genius, you've got the wrong race. Besides the white people, there were only about 6 cars on the whole reservation in the 40s, and early 50s.
Welfare was invented for white people. Indians call mexicans 'whiteman', in our language.
minorities didn't get into welfare until civil rights came along.

just because you went to school does not make you an expert in education.

Listen people...I am a CA educator. CA gives it's own Science Standards Test in grades 5, 8 and 10. You can look up individual schools by county an district at this link:

You will see that CA students do very well in science when measured using our own tests. Remember, CA has some of the highest state standards in the nation. The NAEP test is bullshit.

Here in CA we have been cutting back and back and back. We are no longer cutting out fat, we are amputating arms and legs. Yet, CA pupil achievement continues to rise.

It's kind of hard to teach science when you are focused on Reading and Math so that your students will do well on the state assessment. Yet, we manage to teach science and social studies.

So, don't just make blanket statements about CA schools. When was the last time you sat in MY classroom and saw what was going on. Yeah, I thought so.
