Fraudulent election letter circulating

BAY AREA --
A letter is creating a lot of concern for election officials in Florida.

They're worried fraudulent letters could make some people think they're not eligible to vote.

The letters are showing up all over the state, including several counties in the Tampa Bay area.

The letters are postmarked from Seattle, Washington and they question voters about their citizenship status.

The letter infers that it was sent by the Supervisor of Elections office and looks like it's on official letterhead but it's not.

Election officials want to make sure people don't get fooled.

"It's a scare tactic for the voters in the state of Florida,” said Bob Sweat, Manatee County Supervisor of Elections. “I'm assuming it's going all around the state, telling people their citizenship is in question and they're probably not eligible to vote. Obviously it would frighten you or me or anybody who gets one of these, wondering what's going on."

Election officials say it appears many of the voters targeted in these letters are eligible to vote. The Florida Secretary of State's office is investigating trying to figure out who's responsible.

In the meantime, voters who get the letters are being asked to report it to your Supervisor of Elections office.

Election officials are asking people to keep the envelope and letter as potential evidence.

The letters first started showing up in Brevard County and the problem quickly spread to other counties statewide.

Only citizens are allowed to vote... I would like to know how that is fraudulent??

The only fraud I see is: People trying to convince that it's legal to vote, as an illegal alien.

Logic, by yourself a lb or two.

I wont speculate who did that, but it seems as a too obvious attempt; someone tries to blame someone for a voter fraud.

A Supervisor of Elections from Seattle, WA has NO authorities in Florida; this is too obvious, IMHO.

FYI; each state clearly has it's own Supervisor of Elections.

That isn't from a Supervisor of Elections from Washington.

It's completely fraudulent.
