RE: Heads Up and Watch TONGA !!!
Tonga is always active. A 6 or 7 magnitude there would not be unusual. They are pretty far apart in time so it doesn't seem to be volcanic.

I doubt very much many would agree
with you that a 7.0 earthquake in Tonga
is not unusual. i dont remember any 7.0
in Tonga lately.
Your second statememt seems accurate
that these quakes may be to far apart for
magna flow but i.m sure this is of no comfort to
the locals.
Another 4.9 just this morning struck again. my thread is
only regarding this most recent swarm which is indeed
unusual that its occuring othed day almost.
I thank you for the reply, lets watch and see how this plays ouy.

deal RE: Heads Up and Watch TONGA !!!
a
good morning all.
we have a 4.8 and a 5.3 earthquakes
striking TONGA today.
i, m hoping for the best but after watching
this area very closely over the past few
years i now fear the worse is yet to come.

THis recent activity is not normal. Tonga
gets earthquakes yes but not like this.

There is a cyclone bringing flooding to Fiji and looking at the tracking map it passed over Tonga -

Link Between Earthquakes and Tropical Cyclones: New Study May Help Scientists Identify Regions at High Risk for Earthquakes

A groundbreaking study led by University of Miami (UM) scientist Shimon Wdowinski shows that earthquakes, including the recent 2010 temblors in Haiti and Taiwan, may be triggered by tropical cyclones (hurricanes and typhoons), according to a presentation of the findings at the 2011 AGU Fall Meeting in San Francisco.

banana RE: Heads Up and Watch TONGA !!!
I knew TONGA was gonna go,,,, 6.7 hit today.

The quake was deep, 80 miles and i`m hoping no injurys/damage has occured,

No aftershocks is concerning, I`m hoping for a 5.2 aftershock otherwise a bigger quake may be on the way...
