For you OP:

1. Hell is a State of Mind

Hell is a state of mind. When we die, we are bound by what we think. (Angie Fenimore)

Hell is a psychological condition which represents the hellish inner thoughts and desires within some souls. In hell, souls become uninhibited and their hellish condition is fully manifested. No demons are there to inflict punishment. Each soul acts out their own anger and hatred by warring and tormenting others. (Emanuel Swedenborg)

The hell of hells is knowing you were our own devil. (Arthur Yensen)

It is your mind which creates hell. (Dr. Timothy Leary)

Hell refers to levels of negative thought-forms that reside in close proximity to the Earth realm. It is where we go to work out, or remain within, our hang-ups, addictions, fears, guilt, angers, rage, regrets, self-pity, arrogance, or whatever else blocks us from the power of our own light.

This is old stuff and most are bible propaganda!

What you see when you die is what you believe, if you believe very hard jesus is real you will see it and if it is superman you will also see him.

Jesus spoke more about hell , than he did about Heaven, the lake of fire, prepared to hold satan and his fallen angels,

outer darkness, satan will take as many with him as he can,

he comes to steal and destroy devour.

we can all choose life or death, the second death, Heaven or Hell

Jesus or satan

light or darkness,

to repent or perish.

for God so loves the world, God gave his only begotten son , Jesus,

so that who ever believes on him, shall not perish,

but have eternal life.

Oh lookie. We got folks here who can tell us all what happens when we die. Go ahead, babble on some more about things you can't even begin to conceive of. Tell me who and what God is while you're at it. I've always been curiou about that. You know, since humans were able to talk, there's always been that group. That...type. The ones who tell you about what happens when you die. And since the first humans could hear, everyone else's ears perked up when these....people would spin their tales about the afterlife, the spirit world, the demons of the night, the gods of the forest or the river or the rain. They would tell about the wonders of paradise (where the good little girls and boys go). Everything you could ever wish for is there. And it's all waiting for you. Rivers of milk and honey. Streets of gold. The finest of everything and all for you. And then. Then. They always go into so much more detail. Starting with a slow whisper any time...any time they mention...The Bad Place (cue the Vincent Pricesque pipe organ music). The Bad Place is where naughty little boys and girls end up. The Bad Place has always been spoken of with more reverence and sincerity than Paradise. The verbal description of The Bad Place is almost always overly dramatic. Complete with gasps and maybe a few whimpers. The monsters that tear the flesh from your body or the other ones that would eat, shit, and eat you again throughout eternity. The burning and boiling and ripping of flesh. The agony and gnashing of teeth. Eternal torment. Eternal. Do you understand ETERNAL? Like forever and ever. Neverending. Infinite. A really, REALLY long time.

So, anyway. Once they understood the fundamentals, they were primed and ready to make the biggest commitment of their lives. No. The biggest commitment in all of eternity. Forever and ever. They would do anything to go to Paradise, but more importantly, they would do anything NOT to go to The Bad Place. And of course the Priest or Shaman or Prophet. Whatever you want to call them they're all the same. They fill people's heads with images of Heaven and Hell. They even give the nitty gritty details of each one to make sure you really grasp the extremes. They build it to a fever pitch just up to the point where the listener can't wait another second. That moment where they just have to know what to do to never be sent to The Bad Place.

That's when they do it. That's when they sink their teeth in. And it's always the same. Do what I tell you to do and you'll be allowed into paradise. Give offerings to the God or gods. Pay tribute at your nearest temple once a week and all your dreams will come true. When you die, that is. If you don't do as I say, or if you're offerings aren't quite enough, well then it's off to The Bad Place with you.

Of course there are different variations. Different bits of flare. But it comes down to the same thing. Do as I say or you will be punished beyond you worst nightmares. The one spinning these tales and offering the eternal reward in exchange for loyalty effectively makes himself the single most powerful person in the land. Even the power of a King is finite. The worst he can do is kill you. This other guy though, his power goes beyond this life. Even the King wants to avoid The Bad Place.

Oh yeah, one more thing these....people all have in common. They're lying! The truth is pretty simple (not nearly as exciting as streets of cold or a palace and 72 virgins for sure. The truth is they don't know anything more about 'afterlife' than you or I or anyone else. What they do know is that you wonder and worry about your mortality from the moment you put 2 and 2 together and realize that you will one day breathe your last breath. You don't know when or how, but you know the day will come.

The Priest or Prophet or whatever you call him preys on your ignorance and fear to create power for himself. And so it's always been.

Anyone who tells you they know what happens to you after you die is lying. They don't know. They can't. Neither can you. Even the ones who 'die and come back' aren't credible. Because they 'came back'. They could have been dreaming or hallucinating. They could be lying too. They could have recognized a unique opportunity to have a little bit of power for themselves. It's a pretty safe bet that whatever death holds for us whether its Oblivion or Judgement, it's the same for all of us. This leads one to wonder why the stories have so many differences. Again, nobody knows. Anybody who tells you they know is lying. They may fervently believe what they're telling you is true, but they really don't know. They can't know because they're still here.

We're all agnostic but only some of us have the balls to admit it.
