Better buy them before they go on the controlled substances schedule. Don't forget the walnut oil. Beets, blue cheese and walnuts tossed with a little walnut oil makes a good salad.

It reminds me of when in the late 1980s the drug companies and FDA wanted to claim that herbal supplements were drugs because they feared the competition as the "alternative medicine" interest heated up. Then the drug companies wised up and went into the supplement business. So apparently we will have to get a prescription and buy our walnuts from Pfizer unless Diamond Foods quits making health claims.

Cherry juice is good for gout, but that's based on an unsubstantiated claim. chuckle

The research is all stacked by the drug companies, and the researchers are in their pocket. Double blind trials my ass. The lawyers write the research findings; and they ignore the results in favor of profits. I'd love to see a good expose on how independent the research really is.

I was on seldane as an adolescent for about six years before it was pulled for causing liver damage. The birth control pill screwed up my digestive system for 12 years before I figured out what it was.

They wait until enough users report symptoms, which they cover up, or until a whistleblower does enough research to figure it out and becomes a thorn in their side.

I was just reading an article at Dr. Mercola's site a few days ago, but can't find it now, that said we are having record numbers of recalls every year, current year breaking last year's number. But the problem with drug recalls is that the sickening drug companies know that if they put a dangerous drug on the market, they will sell hundreds of billions of the product in the first year or two, long before anyone figures out that it's killing people. Even when they settle out of court, as they did in the Vioxx case, what they had to pay in settlements was a mere fraction of the profits they reaped during the initial two years of sales.

And speaking of Dr. Mercola, when I was looking for the above article, I stumbled onto this one, stating that there is (or was) a case against him for the exact reason listed in the OP. Here's the link:
