Spent most of my life around Mt. Rainier in Wa.
Beautiful mountain but it always felt intimidating after Helens blew.

I live close to Mt. Shasta, it's southerly sister and I know what you mean. However Rainier has a much greater potential for loss of life and destruction! It would be sad to lose either beautiful mountain.

Our Lassen complex is the remnants of another grand old dame, Mt. Tehama, which was theoried to be 11,000 high and 12 diameter, and the most southerly of the Cascade volcanoes.

Let's hope they all continue to sleep sweetly under their mantles of snow.

Everyone noticed this morning that the Havaria network has Yellowstone Caldera highlighted on the map today. It looks like there have been 'events' at 3 North American super volcanoes. Island Park Caldera, Idaho-----La Gaurita Caldera, Idaho, and Yellowstone Caldera, Colorado.

Two of those were thought to be old inactive eruption sites. Now all 3 are listed as active super volcanoes with the highest danger level and events from yesterday. Level 8.

Island Park is huge. 2,500 kilometers across. La Garita is 5,000 kilometers across. they think it gave the largest eruption in the earths history. Yellowstone by compare is 1,000 kilometers across.

Would you mind providing more info about the Havaria network? I'm interested to see this info. Living in the US kind of makes this stuff relevant to my life chuckle

These were listed as extinct. Now thaey are alive and rated at Level 8. The highest danger.

What factors play into the threat level? Like this one being 8. Seismic activity? Why now? Is something expected to happen soon?

As the expanding earth expands more sinkholes more crustal fracturing < mysterious booms in various place > more earthquakes and where there are volcanos as the crust continues to fracture from the expanding earth the ressisstance above the magma chambers will be less and less as we've seen with numerous standard volcanos until the crustal landbridge above a supervolcano magma chamber fails.

S977 sheeesh!

Well, seems to me that there is a lot going on or getting ready to happen this year. The start of change which is what the Mayan Calander indicated with it's ending date of last year. End of one phase, beginning of a new one that includes the pangs of labor which is what we are experiencing and will continue to experience for some time now.

LOTS of great doom in our future!

they erupted millions of years ago, the chance that a super volcano would erupt within our lifetime is next to nothing
