Damn, someone better call their congressmen and tell 'em to stop paying for COMMIE CLIMATE CHANGE!

There is a few different narratives though in play... the first is that the climate is changing, and the second is handing the responsibility for managing that to government and corporates isn't going to change the first point..

Consumerism is the key issue, changing your vehicle, phone, TV, Fridge etc for a new one isn't going to change the climate regardless of what the sticker on the side of the box says...

I just shake my head that people believe smelting instead of burying electrical sh*t will make any difference bar line the corporate pockets with more cash with literal gold and rare earths..

*IF* it is possible to do anything about the changing climate and I am not sure it is even possible, then consumerism has to change, the world would need to agree things like shifting from this notion of faux recycling to actual re-use of products, to repairing and upgrading the stuff we have rather than pushing to dispose all products and buy new, in ever decreasing product life cycles.

And that last part has turned what we have into is a poverty premium under the banner of climate change... with the poor financing the new purchases of the wealthier... now wonder many are pretty peeved off, and are pushing back...

So no wonder there are those who are planning for managing the changing climate since it should be pretty obvious to all that buying ever more sh*t is not an approach that is liable to change anything..

Bump

Goodbye cruel world I'm off to join the circus.

Fitting in isn't about what you know, it's what you don't know that makes you a team player.

Ep. 41: Climate Change vs. the US Military

Quote: In this episode, we investigate matters of resilience and base design as part of a broader look at how climate change will likely affect the U.S. military in the years ahead.

Quote:Some storms over just about any place on the earth are to be expected, right? But consider this:

Worldwide flooding has quadrupled since 1980.
There’s been a 50-fold increase in dangerous heatwaves since 1980.
America’s “Tornado Alley” has moved 500 miles in 30 years

If you look at specific locations, the 50x narrative is unsupportable.

How they generated this lie is a matter of conjecture but it doesn't appear to be true or from a study and comes from a podcast.

It's probably worldwide? Like the factoid above it?

Quote:Since January 2017, twenty-one senior officials at the U.S. Defense Department (DoD) have publicly raised concerns about, and recommended actions to address, the security implications of climate change, both due to its effect on military infrastructure, readiness and operations, and its broader geostrategic implications for the United States.

https://climateandsecurity.org/2019/02/1...2017-2019/

Quote:This includes then-Secretary of Defense, James Mattis; Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Paul J. Selva; Secretary of the Navy, Richard Spencer; Chief of the National Guard Bureau, General Joseph Lengyel; Assistant Secretary of Defense for Energy, Installations and Environment (IE&E), Lucian L. Niemeyer; Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works, R.D. James; Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Installations, Energy, and the Environment, Phyllis L. Bayer; Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Installations, Environment, and Energy, John Henderson; Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps, General Glenn Walters; Vice Chief of Naval Operations, Admiral Bill Moran; Air Force Vice Chief of Staff, General Stephen Wilson; Army Vice Chief of Staff, General James McConville; AFRICOM Commander General Thomas D. Waldhauser; Air Force Director of Civil Engineers, Major General Timothy Green; NORTHCOM/ NORAD Commander, General Terrence J. O’Shaughnessy; Chief of Naval Operations, Admiral John Richardson; Assistant Secretary of the Army for Installations, Energy, and Environment, Alex Beehler; Assistant Secretary of Defense for Sustainment, General Robert McMahon; General Joe Dunford, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; General Robert Neller, Commandant of the Marine Corps; and most recently, Admiral Philip Davidson, INDOPACOM Commander. If you google the factoids (like 50x) they come from a single podcast.

I pulled records from a couple of places to see if 50x claim matched the available data and it doesn't.

If you can find records for locations where 50x the heat waves occurred after 1980, go ahead and post them.

It appears to be from this book

https://books.google.com/books?id=QRpDDw...at&f=false

Quote:Since 1980, the planet has experienced a 50-fold increase in the number of places experiencing dangerous or extreme heat; a bigger increase is to come.

I'll find the data if there's any, eventually. The current data I'm finding shows a 4 to 8 fold increase in certain regions. Good times either way.

Pay no mind to the professionals @ the .mil though. They just want funding!
