The AMC Pacer automobile, from the '70s, had a rear window that would start fires in the same way.

Stop heating food in the microwave in plastics too
Just like bottled water in hot cars will cause cancer , plastic in microwave will do the same

While I'm not sure about the lensing effect causing a fire I think it could happen...what I do know for a fact as I've seen it first hand is a "Bic" lighter will explode if left in a car under the right conditions

Myself and several coworkers were outside taking a break from the summer sun under a parking lot awning when we hear a loud bang that came from nearby parked cars.

It was as loud as a 12ga shotgun.

We walked down and started looking to see if we could tell where it came from.

On the pavement next to a car with a open window were parts of a Bic butane lighter ...and inside the back window and on the seats were several pieces of the same cig lighter .

Just glad it didn't explode flammable and catch the car on fire .
Things not to do from personal experience.
No carbonated drinks.
No water bottles not about burning things, but too hot to drink for a long time.
If you move from a cooler climate remove the can of Fix A Flat! It will punch a hole in the headliner, dent the roof & spray all over the interior. (It don't come out!)
The Bic lighter as previously mentioned.
When I lived in Arizona we used oven mitts for driving gloves. chuckle
Do you know how to tell an Arizona driver from the others? They can drive with two fingers.

From a friends experience don't throw an icy drink on the windshield in the desert. If you live in a place like Denver, don't throw a pan of hot water on the windshield to get the ice off. This friend just couldn't catch a break no matter where she lived.Rofl

Worry Less about FIRE and More about Cancer!
HOT Car Heats Plastic Bottle Causing PCB's and
Other Chemicals in the plastic to leak into the water,
there by giving you cancer.

I will assume you knew I was referring to my effort of humour being ‘wasted’ & not your good self lol.

So why is there only 1 anti-monopoly commission eh?
