Competition is going to increase for workers

Buseiness will have to pay more in wages to keep their workers

At least until they automate them too , but by then we will tax these businesses to give people a livable invomr

Then your rent goes from $800 a month to $1200 a month, so what do you gain?

Minimum wage hikes are the cause of rising rents? That's odd. Rents have been rising yearly & minimum wage has been stagnant for almost a decade.

Yes, and a huge surge in workers being demoted to part time status so as to curb expenses by curtailing eligibility for benefits. Did I forget to mention automation increasing by leaps and bounds as it becomes more and more competitive with human labor cost wise? That too.

Food price hike as well and then a gas hike and your back to square 1. chuckle

That's really not true.

You think wages are set by a magical self-correcting mechanism within a perfectly working "free market."

When in fact it's campaign contributions that set the federal minimum wage.

Our economy will function better with high monetary velocity generated by higher wages.

It's wealthy people that cause inflation, not minimum wagers.

RE: With Amazon I think we will see the nationwide $15 min wage
Amazon is raising its minimum wage to $15 following pressure from Bernie Sanders
Isobel Asher Hamilton 26m

Excerpt:

Amazon has announced it is raising its minimum wage in the US to $15, following sustained pressure from Democratic Senator Bernie Sanders.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Amazon said the salary increase, which is more than double the federal minimum wage of $7.25, will come into effect on November 1. It will impact more than 250,000 Amazon employees, plus more than 100,000 seasonal staff who work for Amazon over the holiday season.

"We listened to our critics, thought hard about what we wanted to do, and decided we want to lead," said CEO Jeff Bezos. "We're excited about this change and encourage our competitors and other large employers to join us."

This decision follows sustained pressure from Senator Bernie Sanders, who has attacked Amazon for how little it pays its workers, and introduced a bill in September entitled "Stop BEZOS," which would tax large companies whose low-wage employees rely on government assistance.

Followed by the $15 hamburger.

That isn't how it works.

When you raise the minimum wage to a living wage, the people actually doing WORK will fill their gas tanks instead of buying $3 worth of fuel.

They will buy new shoes when needed.

They will quit using payday loan and pawn rackets.

Those rackets inject money directly back into the banks without any velocity.

As it is now these people get their paychecks from cheap Chinese products then send the money to China via Wall Street, Amazon, and Walmart.

You pay them $15/hr they will buy a $15 broom at a hardware store that actually SWEEPS, intstead of a $5 one that doesn't.

A $30 fan that BLOWS AIR instead of a $10 at walmart that won't even stay standing upright.

This money will cycle through the economy.

What causes INFLATION is dotcom scammers who start bidding wars on HOUSING.

Not real workers who make minimum wage.

You may see a $6 hamburger, but you're not going to see a $15 one.
