Lovely gardens. I hope to start one myself once I get to where I need to be to do so.

To argue with a man who has renounced the use and authority of reason, and whose philosophy consists in holding humanity in contempt, is like administering medicine to the dead, or endeavoring to convert an atheist by scripture. Enjoy, sir, your insensibility of feeling and reflecting. It is the prerogative of animals. Thomas Paine: American Crisis

I doubt you're deep enough, most likely you will double up depth next year.

We found great black gold in the woods. Also where previous owners buried trash. Lots of digging and 5 gallon buckets. Amended with lime and gypsum. Used a lasagna method to smother weeds. Still a massive work in progress.

Nice. My problem is I can't keep the damn squirrels out. They dig up and chew through everything.

10- 12 inches of soil has best results.

RE: building the new garden .... on a budget ....
just regular window screen .... i have never tried it but i am tired of picking green worms off my broccoli and kohl rabbi .... there are average of 10 white butterflies around my broccoli at any given time....

you look on the underside of the leaves and you will see a tiny egg ...less than 1/16 " ....
usually in pairs.... rub them off before they hatch, will save you hours and plants....

twice a day S977
