$5 US note

Compare with $5 Federal Reserve Note

US notes have a red seal, the only difference except they carry no debt cost just the printing cost.

I'd be happy if they just nationalized the existing commercial banks, then allowed new private banks to start with their own capital but assuming full responsibility for their depositors funds.

That's genuine capitalism btw.

Yah that's the gist of it but until everyone can see this simple truth we are screwed.

I think it should be law that the fed must accept payment in lead. Where did I put all my lead? Oh yeah it's in my boom stick.

No actually Americans back then understood the principles of freedom much greater than they do today. We've been bred for generations to be slaves.

RE: Bill Still: Pay off the debt with US notes
It is written that Congress can dissolve the Fed:

Repeal the Federal Reserve Act

A simple majority vote in both houses of Congress is all that is required to repeal the Federal Reserve Act. Section 31 of the Act states that "The right to amend, alter, or repeal this Act is hereby expressly reserved".

Congress has the power to dissolve the Federal Reserve and should exercise this prerogative before we enter into yet another period of inflation or stagnation. The Federal government would be obligated to buy back its stock in the Federal Reserve, which would cost about 1 billion dollars. Section 7 of the Federal Reserve Act says that if the Fed is dissolved, the surplus becomes the property of the United States.

The Fed is estimated to be worth, according to its own March, 1982 issue of the "Federal Reserve Bulletin, $168.5 billion, with an additional estimate of $92 billion in gold, which comes to a grand total of $250 billion dollars". This money would revert directly to the U.S. Treasury.

http://www.inlibertyandfreedom.com/repealfed.

OK, so it would cost more to get rid of the Fed now because the figures are dated 1982 estimates. Congress doesn't have the balls to repeal that Act. We must remain slaves until this country wakes up and smells the coffee. For too long, we have been under the illusion of the Freedom our forefathers envisioned when they drew up the Constitution with its Bill of Rights.

Perhaps the American people would accept a different piece of paper, but I highly doubt the foreign creditors will..
